Video settings

Video settings control the frame itself: its size, what YouTube shows on top of it and how it fills the screen in landscape.

How to open video settings

1. Open a video.
2. Tap the gear on the video frame.
3. Video Settings opens. Changes apply right away.

Immersive or Manual

At the top, choose how the frame looks:

• Immersive — a wider frame with YouTube overlays hidden.
• Manual — you set the frame and YouTube options yourself.

Manual options

YouTube section:

• Controls — YouTube buttons over the video. Off by default: PlayLingo’s own panel handles playback.
• Captions — YouTube’s own captions in the frame. Off by default, so they don’t cover PlayLingo subtitles.
• Overlay Size — how large YouTube badges and buttons appear in the frame.

Frame size:

• Frame Size (Auto) — the frame follows the video’s proportions.
• Turn it off to set Aspect Ratio (from 16/9 to 16/16) and Inner Padding yourself.

Landscape

Turn the device sideways for a bigger picture with the current line over the video.

• Full Screen in Landscape — video and buttons go under the notch.
• Raise Controls — brings the bottom row closer to your hand. This slider appears when you open settings in landscape.

On iPhone in landscape, tap the video to play or pause.

Black and White

Makes the video grayscale, so colour doesn’t pull attention away from the text.

Common questions

Does video keep playing in the background?

No. YouTube videos pause when you leave the app or lock the screen, and there’s no Picture in Picture. When you come back, the video is where you left it — tap Play to continue.

Why can’t I see YouTube’s captions?

Captions is off by default. In Manual mode, switch it on in the YouTube section.
