Onboarding and your level
The questions PlayLingo asks when you first open it — learning language, native language, CEFR level, goals, name, daily time — and how to change them later.
The first time you open PlayLingo, Lingo asks a few quick questions. Your answers set up subtitles, translation, explanations and the videos you see. Every answer can be changed later.
The questions
- What language do you want to learn? Pick from Popular or All languages.
- Which language do you speak? This is your native language — translations and explanations use it.
- How much … do you know? Choose your level (see below).
- What do you want the language for? Choose one or more: Boost my career, Support my education, Just for fun, Connect with people, Spend time productively, Prepare for travel, Other.
- What should I call you? Type your name, or leave it empty.
- How many minutes a day? Choose 5 min / day (Casual), 10 (Regular), 15 (Serious) or 20 (Intense).
You may also be asked What’s the hardest part for you? — understanding speech by ear, catching the meaning, putting phrases together, speaking out loud or remembering words.
You can go Back to any question and change your answer before finishing.
