Search

How to search YouTube inside PlayLingo, translate a search query into the language you learn, and open a video by pasting its link.

The Search tab searches YouTube without leaving PlayLingo. Every video you open from the results becomes a lesson.

How to search for a video

  1. Open the Search tab and tap the field Search on YouTube.
  2. Type what you want to watch. Suggestions appear as you type.
  3. Tap a suggestion or submit the search. YouTube results open inside the app.
  4. Tap a video to open its video page.

Before you type, the Search tab shows topics and shelves from the catalog. Under the field you also see your recent searches and ready-made queries such as “Learn Spanish” or “Spanish for beginners”.

Translate your query

Videos are easier to find when you search in the language you learn.

  1. Type the query in your native language.
  2. Tap Translate in the search field (on iPhone it’s an icon).
  3. The query is replaced with its translation into your learning language. Submit it.

Paste a YouTube link into the search field and submit it — PlayLingo opens the video instead of searching. Links to playlists and channels work too.

If you see “Something’s not right with this link”, the text isn’t a YouTube video, playlist or channel link. Copy the link again from Share in YouTube.

When you open a channel from the results, you can follow it. See Following channels.
