PlayLingo

Privacy basics

A short summary of how PlayLingo handles your data — voice stays on the device, what is sent for AI answers, tracking and deleting your account.

Checked September 15, 2026

This page is a short, plain summary. The full rules are in our Privacy Policy.

Your voice stays on your device

In Speak mode, your voice is recognised by Apple’s speech recognition on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. We don’t upload your voice to our servers.

What is sent for translations and explanations

When you ask Lingo to translate or explain something, the subtitle text and your question are sent through our server to an AI service to get the answer. Your account details are not sent. We don’t store the text of these requests on our servers, and we don’t use your learning content to train AI models.

What we keep in your account

Your saved words, watch history, streak, learning languages and settings — so they sync between your devices. If you sign in with Apple, we also get the email Apple shares with us.

The tracking prompt

PlayLingo may show Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. It’s used to measure which ads bring people to the app. If you don’t allow it, the device advertising identifier isn’t shared. You can change this any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Microphone and speech recognition

PlayLingo asks for microphone and speech recognition access for speaking exercises. You can turn them off in iOS Settings → PlayLingo.

How to delete your account

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. Tap Delete account and confirm.

Your words, history, streak and follows are deleted permanently. This can’t be undone. See Delete account.
