Explanations not working
What to do when translations, Lingo explanations, chat or deep dives don’t load — “Daily limit reached”, “Couldn’t translate” and energy.
Translations, explanations, chat with Lingo and deep dives need an internet connection. If one of them doesn’t load, find the message you see below.
“Couldn’t translate”
The translation of a line didn’t arrive.
- Check your internet connection.
- Tap Couldn’t translate under the line to request the translation again.
If a translation in a deep dive looks wrong, touch and hold it and choose Translate Again.
Explanations and chat don’t open: out of energy
On the free plan, explanations and chat with Lingo work while you have energy. When it runs out, Lingo looks sad and you see “You’re out of energy for today”. Energy refills at midnight, or you can get unlimited energy with Pro. See Energy.
“Daily limit reached”
“Translations and explanations will work again tomorrow.” There’s a technical daily cap on translations and explanations to protect the service. It applies to all plans, and regular learning rarely reaches it. It resets the next day.
“Couldn’t prepare the deep dive”
- Tap Try Again.
- If the result looks wrong, tap ⋯ in the deep dive and choose Regenerate.

“VPN required”
Translations and explanations are unavailable in your region. See Region restrictions and VPN.
An explanation is unclear
In the explanation panel, tap ⋯ → Improve this explanation and tell us in one line what was missing.
Still not working
- Update PlayLingo to the latest version.
- Close the video and open it again.
- Use Settings → Found a bug? and describe what happened. See Contact and bug reports.

Do translations use energy?
Watching uses energy. Explanations and chat don’t spend it, but need some left to work.
A translation looks wrong. Can I get another one?
Yes. Touch and hold a translation in a deep dive and choose Translate Again.
