Storage and cache
See how much space PlayLingo’s cached images, subtitles and web data take, and clear them without losing your words or progress.
FreeChecked September 15, 2026
PlayLingo saves images, subtitles and web data on your device so screens open faster. You can delete this cache any time — your words, history and streak are not touched.
How to clear the cache
- Open the Profile tab and tap the gear to open Settings.
- Go to App → Storage.
- Tap a row to clear one kind of data, or tap Clear All.
- Confirm Delete.
What’s in Storage
| Row | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Images | Video thumbnails, channel artwork and other images |
| Subtitles | Subtitles of videos you opened |
| Web data | Data of the built-in browser and YouTube player, such as cookies |
Each row shows its size. A row with nothing to clear is grayed out.
All of this is downloaded again when you need it — clearing only frees up space.
When clearing helps
- The app takes more space than you’d like.
- A video or its subtitles don’t load correctly. Try Clear All, then open the video again. See Video won’t open.
Common questions
Will I lose my words or progress?
No. Storage holds only cached data. Your vocabulary, history and streak stay.
Will clearing web data sign me out of YouTube?
It can. Web data includes browser cookies, so you may need to use Settings → App → Sign in to YouTube again.
Why does Web data show “—”?
The app can tell whether web data exists but not its exact size.
