Explore catalog
How the Explore catalog works in PlayLingo — curated shelves for each language, Start here and short videos, level badges and level filters.
Explore is a hand-picked catalog of YouTube videos, channels and topics for the language you’re learning. It’s the page PlayLingo opens on.
How to find a video on Explore
- Open the Play tab and swipe to Explore (on iPad, tap Explore in the tab bar or sidebar).
- Scroll through the shelves. Tap a shelf title to see everything in it.
- Tap a video to open its video page, then tap Watch.
Each language has its own catalog
The catalog belongs to your current learning language. Switch the course in Profile and Explore shows that language’s catalog. See Learning languages.
Shelves to start with
- Start here — hand-picked, simple videos to begin with.
- 6 minutes or less — short videos on different topics for when you have a few minutes. In some languages this shelf has a slightly different name.
Both shelves show videos around your level. Further down you’ll find collections of channels, teachers and topics.
Videos for your level
Many videos carry a CEFR level badge (A1–C2). On level-matched shelves, PlayLingo shows videos one step below your level, at your level and one step above. From B2 up, the range goes all the way to C2. If nothing matches, the whole shelf is shown.
When you change your level in Profile, the shelves update right away. See Onboarding and your level.
Filter by level
When you open a collection with level-marked videos, filter chips appear at the top:
- Suitable — videos around your level.
- All Levels — everything.
- A1, A2, B1… — only one level.
Languages without a catalog
If a language doesn’t have a catalog yet, Explore shows No catalog yet. Tap Find a video to search YouTube, or add any video by link. See Add a YouTube video.
Common questions
The videos are too hard. What should I do?

Can I watch videos that aren’t in the catalog?
