How to start

Is the extension free?+
Yes. The extension is free and needs no account.
Which browsers does it work in?+
Google Chrome on a computer, and other browsers that install extensions from the Chrome Web Store, such as Microsoft Edge, Brave and Opera.
Where does the translation come from?+
From YouTube’s automatic translation of the video’s subtitles. The extension picks the subtitles in the language the video is spoken in and shows the translation under each line.
Can I tap a word to get an explanation?+
Not in the extension yet. Word explanations from Lingo, practice modes and saved words are in the PlayLingo app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Why don’t I see subtitles on some videos?+
The extension works only with videos that have subtitles on YouTube — made by the author or generated automatically. If a video has none, the PlayLingo button in the player shows that no subtitles are available.
