Streak and freezes
How the PlayLingo streak works — what counts as a day of study, how Streak Freezes are earned and used, and where to see milestones.
Your streak is the number of days in a row you studied. It’s low-effort on purpose: a few minutes a day is enough, and it’s reachable on the free plan.
How to keep your streak
Do one of these in a day, by default:
- Spend 3 minutes in the player, or
- finish one practice portion in Vocabulary, or
- build 5 sentences in Build mode, or
- say 5 lines out loud in Speak mode.
The threshold counts inside one language: 90 seconds in one language plus 90 seconds in another doesn’t count. Once any language reaches it, the day counts. You have one streak for all languages.
When today counts, you’ll see Today counts — the streak is safe. Until then, the streak sheet shows what’s left by the quickest route — for example, minutes of video or sentences.
Where to see your streak
- The flame in the Play tab. It’s colored when you have a streak and gray when you don’t.
- The top of the Profile tab, with a strip of this week’s days: a check for counted days, a snowflake for frozen ones, a dashed circle for missed ones.
Tap any of them to open the Streak sheet: your length, today’s status, a year of days (counted, frozen, missed) and the next milestone.
Streak Freeze
A freeze covers a missed day, so the streak survives. There’s nothing to switch on:
- Earning. Freezes are earned for days you study in a row — by default one for every 2 days, up to 2 in stock.
- Using. If you miss days, a freeze is used automatically. A gap is covered completely or not at all. You’ll see Freeze used with the day.
- The frozen day itself stays empty everywhere except the streak.
Your stock appears as snowflakes next to the streak once you’ve earned your first freeze. Tap it to read about the freeze.
Milestones
The streak marks 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, 180 and 365 days. Your best streak is shown at the bottom of the Profile tab.
Common questions
Why did my streak reset?
You missed a day and had no freezes left, or the gap was longer than your freezes could cover. Check the year view in the Streak sheet.
I studied on another device — why doesn’t it show?
The streak is counted on the server from all your devices. Make sure both devices use the same account. See Sync between devices.
Does saving words count?
No. Only watching time, a practice portion, built sentences or spoken lines count.
