Missing words or progress

Why saved words, streak or history may be missing in PlayLingo — a different Apple ID, not signed in, sync timing or another learning language.

Checked September 15, 2026

Your words, history and streak are saved in your PlayLingo account. When something looks missing, it’s almost always a different account or a different learning language. Check the causes below in order.

How to find missing progress

  1. Check the learning language. Words and progress are kept separately for each language. On Profile, tap the language button to open I’m learning and switch to the language you studied.
  2. Check the Apple ID. Go to Settings → Account. It shows Signed in with Apple and the email. Your progress is in the account of the Apple ID you first signed in with.
  3. Check that you’re signed in. If Settings → Account offers Continue with Apple, this device isn’t signed in. Sign in with the same Apple ID as on your other device.
  4. Give sync a moment. Open PlayLingo on the device where you made the changes, then reopen it on the new one.

Signed in with a different Apple ID

If you saw “There was no account for this Apple ID. It’s created now”, a new, empty account was created. Log out in Settings → Account and sign in with the Apple ID you used before. Logging out doesn’t delete anything — your words, history and streak stay in the account.

Never signed in on the old device

Without signing in, progress is tied to that device only. Open PlayLingo on the old device, go to Settings → Account and tap Continue with Apple — then sign in with the same Apple ID on the new device.

“Some progress didn’t transfer”

“Your streak and practice history stayed with the previous profile.” You signed in to an existing account while this device had progress without an account. Your saved words and history were moved, but the streak and practice history couldn’t be combined.

How sync works

  • Changes are sent to your account shortly after you make them and when you leave the app.
  • Other devices pick them up when PlayLingo starts.
  • To see where your account is open, go to Settings → Account → Devices.

Common questions

I removed a learning language. Can I get its words back?

No. Removing a language deletes its words and progress from your account.

My streak reset to zero.

Check the causes above first. If you really missed a day, see Streak and freezes.

None of this helped.
