Learning languages
How to add a second language in PlayLingo, switch between the languages you learn, set your level, and what removing a language deletes.
You can learn several languages in PlayLingo. Each one has its own vocabulary, watch history, followed channels and progress numbers. Only one language is active at a time.
How to add a language
- Open the Profile tab and tap the language pill on the right (flag and language name).
- In I’m learning, tap Add a language.
- Find the language in I want to learn and tap it.
The new language becomes active right away with level A1. You can change the level afterwards.
Switch between languages
- Tap the language pill on the Profile tab.
- Tap the language you want in I’m learning.
Catalog, vocabulary, history and profile tiles switch to that language. Your streak stays the same for all languages.
You can also do this in Settings → Profile → Learning.
Change your level
- On the Profile tab, tap the level (for example, B1) on the right side of the language pill.
- Pick a level from A1 to C2 in Your language level.
The level is set for the active language. It’s also in Settings → Profile → Level.
Remove a language
- Open I’m learning.
- Swipe left on a language that isn’t active.
- Confirm Remove language? → Delete.
This permanently deletes that language’s saved words, watch history and followed channels. You can’t remove the active language — switch to another one first. You need at least one language.
Common questions
Can I learn two languages at once?
Yes. New words per day are counted for each language separately, so studying two languages doubles your daily load.
If I add a removed language back, will my words return?
No. Removing a language deletes its data for good; adding it again starts fresh.
I see “Couldn’t switch language”
Switching needs an internet connection. Check your connection and try again.
