Build mode

In Build mode the video stops after each line and you put its shuffled words back in order. How chips, sessions and free daily lines work.

In Build mode the video stops after every line. Its words appear below, shuffled — put them in order and the line counts. Words stick better this way, and you get a feel for the order they come in.

How to use Build mode

  1. In the player, tap the round mode button and choose Build.
  2. The video plays one line and stops. The words of the line are covered.
  3. Tap the word chips below in the right order, left to right.
  4. When the line is complete, a green check appears. Tap Next to continue.

Didn’t catch the line? Press play — until the line is done, it replays the line from the start.

How chips work

  • Each chip is one word. Identical words are interchangeable.
  • A wrong chip just bounces back. There’s no penalty and no error count.
  • A placed chip is spoken aloud — turn off Speak each word in Exercise settings.
  • Long lines use a window of words: you build up to Words per line (6, 8, 10, 12 or 15; 10 by default), and the rest are shown already filled in. Words you saved to your vocabulary go into the window first, then longer words.

Sessions and summary

You work in portions: Lines per session is 10 by default (5, 10 or 20). A progress bar at the top shows how far you are, with Finish to end early.

At the end you see how many lines you Assembled and how many words they had. Tap N more lines to continue, or Back to Watching.

When to use it

In the app’s words: turn it on when you have 10–15 minutes and want to study, not just watch.

Auto-pause and Loop don’t apply in Build — the exercise stops each line by itself. The translation is hidden by default; turn on Show translation in Exercise settings.

Free or Pro

  • Build gives you free lines every day — 10 by default, counted across your devices. The mode card shows Free today: N more.
  • When they run out, the card shows PRO, and the summary offers Keep Practicing with Pro.
  • With Pro, Build is unlimited. See Free and Pro.

Common questions

Why are some words already filled in?

The line is longer than Words per line. Raise it in Exercise settings to build more of each line.

Why does the video skip some lines?

Very short lines aren’t used as exercises — see Skip lines shorter than in Exercise settings.

Can I build the translation instead?

Yes, with a subtitle track in your native language. See Reverse modes.
