Part-of-speech highlighting
Underline nouns, verbs, adjectives and other parts of speech in colour right in the subtitle line, and choose which ones to mark.
Part-of-speech highlighting underlines words by their role in the sentence: blue for nouns, red for verbs, and so on. It helps most in Listen and Build — the colour tells you what kind of word you’re hearing before you catch it.
How to turn it on
- In the player, tap the mode button in the side controls.
- Tap Highlighting.
- Switch on Part of Speech.
Words in the line that is playing get a coloured underline.
Choose which parts of speech to mark
- On the Highlighting screen, tap Part of Speech.
- Switch on the ones you want. The number next to the row shows how many are selected.
By default, only nouns and verbs are marked.

While part-of-speech highlighting is on, the word chips in Build mode are coloured the same way — only for the parts of speech you selected. See Build mode.

Part-of-speech highlighting is available when you learn English. For other languages the row isn’t shown.
Free or Pro
It’s a Pro feature. Without Pro, the row shows a Pro badge, and tapping it explains the feature. See Free and Pro.
