Sync between devices
What PlayLingo syncs between your iPhone, iPad and Mac — vocabulary, history, streak — what stays on one device, and when sync happens.
PlayLingo keeps your progress on the device and sends changes to your account. Sign in with the same Apple ID on each device, and your iPhone, iPad and Mac share the same progress.
How to set up sync
- On the first device, go to Settings → Account and tap Continue with Apple.
- On the second device, sign in with the same Apple ID.
- Keep both devices online for a moment — progress arrives automatically.
There’s no sync button. See Account and sign in.
What syncs
- Vocabulary — saved words, phrases and sentences, and their review schedule.
- Watch history — where you stopped, so Continue Watching works everywhere.
- Following — channels you follow.
- Activity — watching time, practice portions, built and spoken lines per day.
- Streak and freezes — counted on the server from all your devices.
- Profile — name, photo, native language, learning languages and levels.
What stays on one device
- App settings: appearance, AI language, speech, player and practice settings.
- Reminders.
- Downloaded subtitles and other cache. See Storage and cache.
- The detailed log of your answers in practice.
When sync happens
- When the app starts.
- Shortly after you change something — for example, save a word or finish a portion.
- When you tap Watch on a video.
- When you leave the app.
If you’re offline, changes wait on the device and go out the next time you’re connected and change something or open the app.
Common questions
My words don’t show on the other device
Check that both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID in Settings → Account, then close and reopen the app on each. Still missing? See Missing words or progress.
Does sync work without signing in?
Your progress is saved to your account, but an account without sign-in opens only on this device. To use a second device, sign in with Apple.
Does switching the learning language affect sync?
No. Each language keeps its own data, and all of it syncs.
