Energy

How energy works in PlayLingo — what uses it, what doesn’t, when it refills at midnight and what happens when it runs out.

Free with daily limitChecked September 15, 2026

Energy is the daily amount of free watching in PlayLingo. By default the free plan includes 10 minutes of watching a day. With Pro there is no energy limit.

How to check your energy

  1. Open the Play tab.
  2. Tap the battery icon at the top of the screen. It’s also shown in the player’s mode sheet.
  3. The Energy sheet shows how much is left and when it Recharges.

The battery is hidden with Pro.

What uses energy

  • Watching: the time a video actually plays in the player. Paused videos don’t use energy.
  • The limit is shared by all your learning languages — switching languages doesn’t give you more.

What doesn’t use energy

  • Explanations and chat with Lingo don’t spend energy, but they work only while you have some left.
  • Vocabulary practice doesn’t use energy. It has its own daily free portion.
  • Build and Speak lines have their own daily free limit. See Free and Pro.
  • Browsing the catalog, searching and saving words.

When energy refills

Energy refills every day at midnight, in your device’s time zone. The countdown next to Recharges in shows how long is left.

When energy runs out

  • During a video, playback stops and you see “You’re out of energy for today”. Choose Get Unlimited Energy to see Pro plans, or Come Back Tomorrow.
  • When you open a video, the video page shows “Today’s energy is spent” with the time until it recharges.
  • When you ask Lingo with no energy left, you see the same out-of-energy sheet.

Your saved words, history and streak are not affected.

Free or Pro

The free plan has daily energy — 10 minutes of watching by default. PlayLingo Pro has unlimited energy, so the battery never runs out. See Plans.

Common questions

Does energy carry over to the next day?

No. Unused energy doesn’t add up; every day starts with a full battery.

Why did my energy run out faster than expected?

Energy counts playing time on all your devices and in all languages together, including repeats, Loop and Slow mode.

I bought Pro but still see the energy limit.

Make sure the purchase went through, then tap Restore Purchases in Settings → PlayLingo Pro. See Restore purchases.
