Terms of Use

PlayLingo is provided by a sole proprietor registered in the Republic of Serbia (“we”, “us”). The full legal name, registration details and address are listed in “Legal information” at the end of these Terms. You can reach us at info@playlingo.app.

PlayLingo helps you learn languages with real videos. It shows bilingual subtitles and translations, lets you ask Lingo, our AI assistant, to explain words, phrases and grammar, offers practice modes such as listening, sentence building and speaking, and lets you save words and review them later.

The service is provided for personal, non-commercial learning. Features, catalogs, supported languages and free usage limits may change over time as we develop the product.

You must be at least 13 years old to use PlayLingo. If you are under the age at which you can consent to data processing in your country (16 in some EU countries), a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy on your behalf.

You can use PlayLingo without an account. If you sign in (for example with Sign in with Apple), you are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. You can delete your account at any time in the app settings or by emailing us.

PlayLingo has a free plan with daily usage limits and a paid subscription, PlayLingo Pro, that removes those limits and unlocks additional features. The current features and prices are shown in the app and, for purchases on our website, on the checkout page before you pay.

If you subscribe inside the iOS, iPadOS or macOS app, the purchase is made through Apple and is governed by Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions.

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
• The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You manage and cancel it in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
• If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
• We do not receive or store your payment card details.

When you buy PlayLingo Pro on playlingo.app, our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our website orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries related to payment and handles returns. Paddle’s Buyer Terms apply to the purchase in addition to these Terms, and the charge on your statement will refer to Paddle.

• The price, billing period and any taxes are shown at checkout before you pay.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time using the link in your Paddle receipt email, or by writing to us, and you keep access to Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• If we change the price of your subscription, we will tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next renewal. You can cancel before it takes effect.
• Pro bought on the website is linked to your PlayLingo account and unlocks Pro in the app when you sign in with the same account.
• Paddle processes your payment details. We do not receive or store your full card details.

Refunds depend on where you bought your subscription. Purchases in the App Store are refunded by Apple under Apple’s rules. Purchases on our website are refunded by Paddle. The details are in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

PlayLingo plays publicly available YouTube videos through YouTube’s official embedded player. We do not host, download or redistribute video content, and all rights to videos remain with their creators. Your use of YouTube content is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

We may generate or improve subtitles, translations and explanations for videos to help you learn. We do not claim ownership of original video or subtitle content. If you believe content in PlayLingo infringes your rights, email us and we will review it promptly.

Translations, explanations and other answers in PlayLingo are produced with the help of AI models. They are usually helpful but can be inaccurate or incomplete. Use them as learning support, not as professional, legal or medical advice.

You agree not to:

• copy, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit PlayLingo or its content;
• reverse-engineer, scrape or interfere with the app, its servers or its AI features;
• use automated tools to access the service or to bypass usage limits or payments;
• use PlayLingo to break the law or to infringe anyone’s rights.

The PlayLingo app, website, name, logo, the Lingo character, design, texts and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use PlayLingo for your own learning under these Terms. Words and notes you save remain yours.

We work hard to keep PlayLingo reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee specific learning results, uninterrupted availability, or the availability of any particular video, which depends on YouTube and its creators.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability related to PlayLingo is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

You can stop using PlayLingo and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the service or other users. Where reasonable, we will tell you first. Cancellation of an active subscription follows the rules of the place where you bought it.

We may update PlayLingo and these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia. Courts in Belgrade have jurisdiction over disputes, unless mandatory consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
